Yang Bai is a Professor of Psychology at Peking University, where she specializes in the study of Human Emotions. She was born in a small town in the southern part of China. Rooted in her traditional Eastern Asian background, she is always fascinated by how people from different cultures differ in their perception and experience of positive emotions. This interest motivated her to delve into cross-culture positive emotion research.
Yang's research mainly focuses on exploring how poignant positive emotional experiences are elicited, appraised and experienced across different cultures. Further, she also explores the relation between experiencing positive emotions and related wellbeing outcomes in different cultures. Yang is currently researching the the differences between contentment and other traditionally idolized positive emotions like happiness.
As a former Research Associate at the Contentment Foundation, Dr. Yang Bai has coauthored several scientific publications with our team, and helped inaugurate the field of Contentment research around the world.
